| Welcome to the United States - New Zealand
Council, an independent non-profit organization dedicated to strengthening United States-New
Zealand relations through enhanced communications between the two nations. The Council was formed in 1986 to fasten the cultural and economic partnership between the United States and New Zealand. The Council has a distinguished Board and Advisory Board. We work closely with our Corporate Members, the broader US business community with interests in New Zealand, the New Zealand government and its Washington Embassy. With strong and growing backing by U.S. business, the Council strongly supports the goal of a US - New Zealand Free Trade Agreement (FTA).
The Council mourns the loss of its founder Ambassador Anne Clark Martindell. Click on the following links for press releases from the Council and Prime Minister Helen Clark. A copy of her obituary from the New York Times can be found here. **** **** Please see our 2007 US-NZ Partnership Forum page to for more information, including the recent report on the 2007 United States New Zealand Partnership Forum. Forum participant Bruce Stokes has written two articles about New Zealand for the National Journal since the Forum: "A Zeal for Greener Pastures" on climate change and how it impacts New Zealand and "The Fruits of a Kiwi Agreement" on how a US-NZ Free Trade Agreement (FTA) could serve as a template for future agreements.
