TPP Business Coalition
The US-NZ Council is a member of the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) Business Coalition and its Steering Committee. The Coalition is comprised of approximately 75 United States trade associations and companies. The Emergency Committee for American Trade (ECAT) acts as a Secretariat in assembling American business interests. ECAT's Chief Executive, Calman Cohen, is a member of the Council's board.
The proposed Coalition Goals during the TPP negotiations include providing advice reflecting the views of the US business community to Administration officials on the architecture of the agreement, priorities and negotiating objectives, and key cross-cutting issues identified by the Administration where a common view can be achieved. Another objective is to offer input to foreign governments and foreign-industry representatives where appropriate in addition to providing input to Congressional stakeholders on priorities, negotiating objectives and new issues where the coalition has a common view.
