New Zealand app development company making its mark on US technology scene

Moa Creative’s app development service is being used throughout the States.

04 May 2012 | Another New Zealand technology company is growing its business rapidly in the United States.

Moa Creative, an app development company founded in 2010, won a contract with a New York mobile agency in January 2011 to develop apps for their clients.

“They tried us and were blown away by us,” says Andrew Malcolm, Business Manager.

Half of Moa Creative’s business is now in the US. The company has developed apps for some of the biggest brands in the world, including retail, hotels, sports, news/media, travel and tourism, leisure, hospitality and utilities companies.

In New Zealand, Moa’s customized apps are almost all top downloads from the app store, and the iPhone app they developed for 3 News was named as one of the five best news apps available in Australasia in the 2011 Apple iTunes App Store Rewind.

Not ones to rest on their laurels, Moa Creative has also developed an app platform template for the hospitality and retail sectors. Called App La Carte, the template gives restaurants and retailers an easy-to-use, low-cost way to create their own apps. Its first clients include fast food restaurant Wendys and technology giant Bang & Olufsen.
